Big Stomachs, Bigger Hearts!

Today was THE day for CF's Great American Bake Sale.



We served up chocolate chip cookie sandwiches with your choice of chocolate or vanilla frosting.

YUM.

The sale went swimmingly! At $2 a pop, we sold out of nearly 50 sandwiches in about an hour and a half.




Those babies went fast!


AND WE RAISED A TOTAL OF ...

$200 ! ! !

It never ceases to amaze me how generous the people of PBC--especially the Friends of Cookie Friday--can be! Thank you to everyone!

Dude, where's your face?

It was a certain someone's birthday this week. Someone who, judging by these self-portraits, prefers to remain blognonymous. CF obliges. In any case, while there was no official Cookie Friday this week (in preparation for next week's bake sale), "he" and few privileged office mates enjoyed sweet and salty peanut butter chocolate chip cookies with lots of sea salt.

I think he liked them.

Pie Friday?

Looks like it!

Today, for the sake of mixing it up, we offered up CF's first attempt at pecan pie (or any pie for that matter).


It was interesting. But I think it went over pretty well...even if some "people" had to be force-fed.

I have no idea what happened below. We get a little cah-razy in the early morn.

What can I say, often times, a theme just pops up. Ole!

Whoopie!

Today is Joanne's birthday! Following a successful shuffle last weekend, we topped off the week of celebration with lots of bite-size (and one special giant) chocolate peanut butter whoopie pies--which were inspired by this recent article from the New York Times.

XS and XXL.

Is it really a pie? So delightful and fluffy, whoopie pies are really a clever combination of cake, cookie and buttercream frosting.

Sugar & Spice

Today we mixed sugar and spice with a whole lotta fun. Below, some snickerdoodle bars with a little vanilla glaze.

I promise, it wasn't frosted corn bread.

I just registered for Share Our Strength's "Great American Bake Sale" to end childhood hunger. Amateur bakers like me are signing up all over America to hold their own bake sales to raise money for the kids in our own communities.

People Pleasers

This week CF had a special request, not from one person, but FOUR. So what's all the fuss about?

Green tea cupcakes with green tea glaze. And they're not even cookies!

The cakes were in honor of Melissa's last day.

And, um, Jayson, who simply requested his own special batch and proceeded to eat each and every one before the day even ended.

I think it's safe to say that the delicate little cakes were enjoyed up by all, preggers or not!
